Cabbage Patch Kid III

The third appearance for Cabbage Patch Kids, this time as a keychain. He's skating right out of the cabbage patch! He also appears to be skating right out of the 80s but this guy is actually from 1997.

Mickey Mouse XIII

Mickey Mouse comes in for his 13th appearance - rivaling Snoopy & Bart for king of BPA. No info on this guy - looks like he had a loop on his head at one point so perhaps a keychain or zipper pull. I got him used along with a small Mickey bag, so that points to a zipper pull.

Katie Skateboard

Katie Skateboard is a Shopkin is from Shopkins Season 5 released in 2016. She comes in 2 basic colorways as well as 2 "first batch" edition that have different colored ears. Additionally there is a 5th version that in pink w/blue stripes and sparkles. Below pic shows the reverse side, featuring a more literal tail than skateboards usually have.

Check out the "Anthropomorphic Skateboard" tag for more personified skateboards.

Chip & Dale

Chip & Dale make their debut appearance on BPA riding tandem in this 2002 Japan-only Happy Meal premium. When pushed down and let go they move forward while the nose rises.

Ollie

Ollie from Zuru Smashers series 1: Sport released in 2018. Ollie comes in 2 colorways - blue and purple. There is a 3rd "bad sports" colorway (gray/red) who is called "Sk8." Don't think they thought too hard about the names. These came in plastic soccer balls that you would "smash" open to get the figure (although the balls could be put back together).

Check the new "anthropomorphic skateboard" tag to check out other personified boards.

Lost Kitties

Scoops (red) & Prickle Paws (blue) from Lost Kitties series 1 released in 2018. These guys came with a variety of accesories as well as some Play-doh type stuff that I think was supposed to represent cat sand. Scoops, featuring the cone of shame, seemed to come with the skateboard often, but Prickle Paws is shown on the checklist riding a skateboard (below).

Dean from It Chapter 2. This figure is from the Funko Mystery Minis set released in 2019. There was also a Hot Topic exclusive version where his hood is pulled up.

X-Pro Action Deck

Nameless female skateboarder from Soma's 1988 X-Pro Action Deck line, advertised as "Motorized Pull & Go." The figure can move forward or back on the deck to change the way they skate.

Bart Simpson XVI

This Bart is from the 2004 Simpsons Danglers Collection Series 1 that would've been found as a capsule toy inside a Gacha Tomy vending machine. He's on a suction cup and then a thin wire holds him out and allows him to dangle.

Rabbid

Skateboarder from the 2011 Rabbids "sport collection." It's a little hard to see but he has bitten his board in half and has part of it in his mouth. I think this is the only figure like that (although not the only broken skateboard!).

Freddy Funko

Freddy Funko 2021 "Skater Freddy" figure. This is Funko Pop's mascot. When Funko Pop figures first came out I wasn't sure what to make of them. I remember being in an Urban Outfitters and seeing they had some Simpsons ones in the sale bin. Bart had a skateboard and I thought about picking him up (for a $1) but ultimately decided against it. I don't know why. Now that Bart figure is like $200.

Cacharel Pin

You see it here first folks. And probably no where else. Cacharel pin - unknown date.

Animal Skate-Board

Animal Skate-Board figures from 1978. Lion & tiger, Cat & squirrel. I initially thought the red one was a dog and puppy but the more I look at the larger one I think it might be a bear. I got 2 of these and the combos were a bit different for each, but there weren't any different animals.

Little dude getting low. No info on this guy - don't even see any manufacturing markings.

Mickey Mouse XII

Mickey returns as part of a set featured in the last 3 weeks ("Mickey Mouse and Friends Extreme Skate Park"). Like Donald, this is Mickey's 12th appearance.

Goofy VIII

Goofy's 8th appearance, this time as a part of a 3 piece Disney Store exclusive set (w/Donald and Mickey) entitled "Mickey Mouse and Friends Extreme Skate Park." The set included the 3 skaters as well as some ramps, stairs, & handrails. No date found. Donald & Mickey coming in the next 2 weeks. Check the Disney tag for more Goofy.

Willi Wirbelwind

This Koala is from Scholler's "Cool Action Team" set from 2004. He is named Willi Wirbelwind and is not supposed to be missing an arm. He showed up without one of his arms and I was surprised to not find it in the bottom of the package. C'est le guerre.

Previous marsupials: Crash Bandicoot, a koala, Kalli Kangaroo, and Dizzy Devil.

Bart Simpson XV

Bart returns for a record setting 15th time. He may have taken the crown away from Snoopy but it depends how you count I guess (Snoopy is featured in multiple Peanuts set with multiple figures). At any rate, both the Snoopy and Bart Shelves are filling up. This is a Qee keychain figure from 2007. Qee also released the Monkey Skateboard Co keychains, which have the same body but a different head.

Hit the Simpsons tag for more Barts.

Mario V

Mario returns for this 5th appearance, this time in fireball mode. No real info on this guy. Probably from sometime in the 2010s but that is just a guess. Previous Marios: one, two, three, & four. Someday I'll find a Luigi.

Bill Body II

Bill Body has made a previous appearance on BPA. This time he's riding his board and gearing up for a 360 at the very least. I think this figure is probably from the 80s.

Mickey Mouse (XI) & Minnie Mouse

While Mickey has appeared here ten times, this is Minnie's debut appearance. These are pullback skateboards with stingy wheelbases from the early 2000s. As far as I know this is the complete set but it's always possible there are more figures - maybe Donald & Daisy?

World Industries Recruiter

The World Industries Devilman appears as recruiter, a Tech Deck Dude from 3rd Skate Crew series released in 2002.

Tender Juicy

Tender Juicy figure from 2013. Tender Juicy is a brand of Filipino hot dog that I think is available although not common in the US. Would've obviously preferred an anthropomorphic hot dog but this is still good.

Bart Simpson XIV

Bart Simpson returns as a Kidrobot figure from series 1 of their Simpsons line, complete with skateboard and squishy. This series was released in 2008 and featured a mix of regular and obscure characters. There have been a few series since but I don't believe there are any more skaters (although there is a Poochie w/surfboard figure).

Check the Simpsons tag for more figures.

Robbie Sinclair

Robbie Sinclair, older brother on the 90s TV show Dinosaurs. There is an older figure of Robbie with skateboard but this is a 2020 Funko Pop figure.

Baby Baby

Baby Baby from the Little Bobdog world, featured in figure form here on BPA last week and pin form a bit ago. This wind up figure was released in 1999 by 7-Eleven.

Monday, May 30, 2022

Little Bobdog II

Little Bobdog returns in figure form from 1999. His previous appearance was in pin form. Little Bobdog is the corporate mascot of Sunward Co., LTD. This figure is part of a "sporty dog" series released by Borgmann (which appears to be similar to Kinder?)

Ferdinand

Ferdinand is a large dachshund featured in Tom & Jerry: The Movie from 1992. He is too big to use his legs so he uses a skateboard to get around.

Sunny Side

Sunny Side from Tokidoki Breakfast Besties series 2 released in 2021. Eggs, Bacon, and a lil tomato hat - what more do ya want?

Benny Beule II

Benny Beule from the 1992 Crazy Crocos Kinder set. Benny made a previous appearance here as a skateboard racer figure from 1997.

Snoopy & Friend on Skateboard

The Peanuts gang returns with another set of skateboard figures, most of them previously seen in Peanuts Skate N Surf and Peanuts Mini Skateboard. This set features two figures per board, skating in tandem. Most just have Woodstock sitting up front but the WWI flying ace gets a new sculpt of Charlie Brown sitting down and one Charlie Brown gets both Snoopy & Woodstock sitting up front (probably how it would go in real life). There are few different copyrights for these figures and they have "Made in Hong Kong" printed on the bottom so I believe they are probably late 70s.

Hallmark Bunny

This bunny is skating through to wish you a happy Easter 1989.

Mickey Mouse X

Mickey Mouse returns to BPA for his 10th appearance. This time as a fairly recent figure - from the Disney Junior Mickey mini figure blind capsule series 1, released in 2020. This set featured a variety of characters from the Mickey Mouse clubhouse (which I have been exposed to through my niblings). This was the only skating figure though.

Donald Duck XI

Donald Duck returns for his 11th appearance on BPA. This figure was part of a 4-piece set labeled "Disney Heroes" and sold exclusively at Disney parks. The set was rounded out by the usual Mickey & Goofy joined by Stitch. I had a tough time nailing down a year for these guys, but found a blog post from 2014 where someone went to a disney store outlet and found these guys, so probably shortly before that. Similar to Tech Deck Dudes these figures are attached to their boards with magnets. Disney had previously teamed up with Tech Deck Dudes to release Mickey and Stitch as magnetic figures in the mid-2000s.
