Hobie Belt Buckle

Was very happy to grab this Hobie belt buckle! I've seen one that says "skateboards, surfboards, catamarans" underneath which I've been searching for but definitely stoked on this one. No date but was made by Dynabuckle out of Provo, UT.

Belt Buckle XXVII

This Skate Boarding belt buckle seems to be the plainest buckle you can get to express your interest in skateboarding, and I love it. The buckle was made by BTS in the USA in 1978 and I've found 2 versions of it.

Belt Buckle XXVI

The 2nd of 2 silhouette skateboarder vintage belt buckles, this one was made in the USA in 1978 by BTS. It's one of 2 silhouette skaters I've seen - the other I found a non-silhouette version of the same one so hoping to track down a similar one for this guy.

Belt Buckle XXV

The first of 2 silhouette vintage belt buckles to be featured here on BPA. This one has an image that was previously featured in full rather than just silhouette. The buckles is most likely from the '70s although there is no date on the back.

Philadelphia Skateboard Park Belt Buckle

Philadelphia Skateboard Park (PSP) vintage belt buckle circa 1978. No markings on this one but it looks like the park was open in the late '70s and presumably closed shortly thereafter.

Belt Buckle XXIII

Not much to go on here - not even sure if this one is vintage. The back says NB pewter and thus ends any info I have on it.

Belt Buckle XXII

This vintage pewter belt buckle was made by Instyle in 1978 and appears to feature a hand-sculpted skater. I thought his nose had been ground down but the other few of these I've seen all look pretty similar.

Belt Buckle XXI

This vintage skate brass belt buckle may very well indeed be intended as a rollerskate but I can't totally rule out skateboarding so I picked it up. It was made in Taiwan in 1979 by Aminco.

Gullwing Belt Buckle

I initially acquired this Gullwing belt buckle as a flat brass piece with no back. I think it might've been some prototype and I have anecdotal evidence of at lease one other person having one (sans backing) that came directly from Gullwing. I have also seen one on eBay that did have a back although there's no way to know if it was added later. I picked up some backing hardware and tried to solder it on but that didn't work - so I had a welder friend weld the backing hardware on. That seems to have done the trick, so mine is now a functional belt buckle. Assuming this was made in the late 70s or early 80s.

Skateboards Unlimited Belt Buckle

This is a belt buckle made by Skateboards Unlimited, a skateshop out of Tulsa, OK from the 70s. It's undated but I did find mention of the shop in the National Skateboard Review of August 1978.

Hang Ten Belt Buckle

Hang Ten - not a trick you see as much anymore. This buckle has "Tiffany Studio New York" on the back, but is not from the real Tiffany Studio. Mostly likely made sometime in the late 70s.

Da Bowl Belt Buckle

Da Bowl belt buckle from 1977. This is made by Progressive Skateboards, a company & team out of Atlanta Georgia in the 1970s. There are a handful of pics of these dudes up on Instagram and they look like rippers.

Belt Buckle XIV

This is the first skateboard belt buckle I picked up, at a small local antique store. It's also one of the most easy to find.

Belt Buckle XIII

The back of this buckle is marked Michael A. Irvin 1980. Pretty rad design but it's heavy!

Sims Pure Juice Belt Buckle

Multiple people told me they picked this buckle up in the discount bin of Atlantic Skates in Ocean City, MD in the 80s. The buckle itself is from the 70s.

GrenTec Belt Buckle

GrenTec was a 70s company that made plastic and wood boards. When I posted this on Instagram a slew of old heads chimed in that this was their first board.

Skateboarder Belt Buckle II

A 2nd vintage Skateboarder magazine belt buckle. This one is less eye-catching than the skateboard shaped buckle but I like this one better (it's definitely more comfortable).

Belt Buckle IX

360° was a 70s skateboarding clothing company. I didn't realize that until seeing their logo on the bottom of one of those large plexi-glass ramps in a vintage photo.
